RUBI Orozco Santos is a bilingual, bicultural health educator and yoga instructor who is committed to sharing knowledge, skills, and resources to improve community wellness. She began practicing yoga and meditation at the age of 15. In 2011, she became a certified yoga instructor through the Ananda Marga Yoga Teacher Training. Her Rajadhiraja Yoga practice includes Patanjali’s eight limbs as its basis as well as additional techniques and practices. Her asana classes are accessible for beginner students, while providing a grounding practice for intermediate and advanced practitioners. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) with Yoga Alliance, the international yoga professional organization. She is also a Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher (RPYT), having completed the Beauty Blossom Birth Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training in December 2013.  A life-long natural living enthusiast, she earned a Master’s degree in Public Health from the University of California at Berkeley and a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science from the University of Texas at El Paso. She writes recipes and shares ancestral health and wellness practices from around the world on her blog, TradicionesSanas.com.
 

ERICA began practicing yoga with a DVD called Yoga for Stress Relief while working on a certification in graphic design. Going from an active job to long hours at the computer, she developed new aches and pains in her neck, back, arms – everywhere! Yoga helped, and she found herself wanting to both laugh and cry with relief at the magic of putting her body in a certain pose and breathing.

Life circumstances brought her from one coast to the other. There she found her first yoga home at La Jolla Yoga Center. After a year's worth of beginners classes, she took her first teacher training, with a strong focus on optimal alignment and helping students find their own perfect pose with props, adjustments, and modifications. A year later, she joined the Raja Yoga teacher training, focusing on inner practices such as self-healing and meditation and using the familiar elements of postures and breath work to quiet the mind. She has also studied restorative yoga with Roger Cole and yoga for emotional balance with Bo Forbes.

Erica continues to have a passion for teaching beginners and for leading creative gentle Hatha classes arising from her own practice. She is also working to build and maintain her own restorative and meditation practices, which as a new mother, she now knows she needs more than ever. Healing ourselves is the first step toward healing the world.

MORGAN is passionate about creating space where students can cultivate personal power through the challenge of asana. She believes in asana as a physical vehicle for transformation of mind and spirit. Originally drawn to yoga to reduce stress and to get a physical “workout,” she understands the many doors that can open the path to the larger Yoga.  From her first class at a gym she sensed there was more to it than just the physical, and her path continues to lead her to what that “more” truly is; towards the essence of both yoga and her Self.

Morgan uses alignment-based classes (both flow and form) to draw attention to habits and tendencies in a self-discovery process. Student empowerment surfaces through the cultivation of this awareness.  Each student is invited to challenge his/her own edge in the safety of Morgan’s guidance.  In carefully crafted classes, students are guided into challenging physical postures but asked to journey inward to look at their own reactions, tap into their strength, and become present. She believes each class is an offering of her knowledge and experience in an effort to invoke a process of transformation in students.


After 5 years of steady practice, she embarked on the Be Shri Yoga teacher training program (Greenwich, CT) where she received her 200 hr certification.  Several years later, in the spring of 2015, she attended a workshop that set her on a path that would change the way she both practices and teaches.  After her first weekend workshop with Christina Sell, she became determined to continue to study with her.  Morgan credits Christina for her shift to clearer and more targeted teachings, both on and off the mat.   She completed the 300hr Alchemy of Flow and Form Advanced Teacher Training Program at the San Marcos School of Yoga with Christina Sell and Gioconda Parker.  Morgan is also the lead teacher of the Surya Yoga Teacher Training Program where she shares her passion for teaching with teacher trainees.

Morgan spent 16 years in the northeast but returned to her hometown of El Paso in the fall of 2013 to open Surya Yoga. She holds a BFA in theater arts and a Masters degree in education. She spent several years acting in NYC and seven years teaching fourth grade in Connecticut.  Her life has led her to share her voice in many different capacities, and she is grateful to be able to help expand the yoga community in her hometown.

ANGELA has been teaching yoga since 2013 . Her style is hatha vinyasa. She offers gentle and rhythmic classes so students experience movement and breath connection. Her teaching style is authentic and whole hearted, and her soothing voice creates a zen-like atmosphere. She also loves taking her teaching off the mat facilitating experiences for students during worldwide retreats & activities. With deep understanding that yoga is a practice of many facets and fond of bhakti yoga, she encourages her students to connect Self to nature and spirit.

BETH began practicing yoga to gain flexibility after many years of running marathons. While she did become more flexible, what kept her coming back to the mat was how beautiful and strong she felt as she moved through the poses. Beth found self-esteem and confidence through yoga that she had never experienced before. Ultimately, she realized that she had to share this amazing practice with others.

Beth is passionate about teaching her students to care for their bodies so that they become stronger and more vibrant as they age. Therefore, in her classes you can expect challenging, intelligent sequences that will expand your limits so that you find yourself in poses that you never thought were possible. You will breathe, flow, work hard, rest fully, and of course, have fun. Beth believes that a regular yoga practice can empower each one of us to discover our own inner strength, light, and beauty.

KANDY Aboud (Tattwamayi) received her 200 hour yoga teacher training in Integrative Yoga Therapy in 2005 and her 500 hour Yoga Teacher Training through YAMA (Yoga, Ayurveda and Meditation Arts) Therapeutics in 2010. She also completed an Ayurvedic Wellness Coaching Certificate in 2011.  She has been practicing yoga for 10 years and made her first trip to India to the Sivananda Ashram in Rikhia Peeth with other yoga teachers in October 2010 for a Chakra Sadhana Retreat .  She went back to Mother India for the World Yoga Convention in Munger at the Bihar Yoga Bharati and back to Rikhia for a Prana Vidya Retreat. She received Mantra Diksha in 2010 and received her spiritual name of Tattwamayi from Sw. Satyasangananda  Saraswati at that time. She received diksha for jignasu sannyasa (spiritual seeker) from Sw. Niranjanananda Saraswati in 2013.  She is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner by profession. A member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists and Yoga Alliance, she provides individual yoga therapy as well as restorative yoga, beginner yoga and yoga nidra (yogic sleep) classes and workshops.  She brings a spiritual quality to her yoga classes, incorporating pranayama (breathing), mudras (seals), chakras (energy centers) and meditation all in the Satyananda Yogic Tradition of India.

Our Instructors

SUSAN began practicing yoga in 2007 as a New Year's resolution.  She has studied both Iyengar and Anusara yoga and became certified as Anusara-InspiredTM in 2011. She is certified as a Wisdom WarriorTM yoga instructor—yoga for seasoned practitioners over 50 who want to continue to grow in their practice as they age. Susan has trained extensively in therapeutic yoga and holds the 500-hour Yoga Alliance certification. She infuses her classes with enthusiasm, humor and attention to alignment so students of all levels can experience transformation. 

Susan is profoundly grateful for the gifts of yoga and all her teachers.  She has been guided by exceptional mentors, each of whom have inspired her to deepen her own practice.

DULCE Paulina Lopez Dulce Paulina (RYT 200 - RYT 200 Ashtanga) was born and raised in Mexico. She started practicing Yoga in 2004 in a 6 month period in Guadalajara, Mexico and since then, she hasn’t stopped. She fell in love with Yoga so much that she kept practicing constantly wherever her life took her too – from, Tijuana and Mexicali, Mexico to Los Angeles California and finally El Paso, Texas.

Dulce obtained her Yoga Certification in 2013 at Ananda Studio and in 2014 an Ashtanga Certification by Michael Gannon (GAVY200) in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo. She has also earned Reiki and Pilates Certifications.

She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, a Master’s Degree in Marketing, and recently a Real Estate License and she’s always looking forward to learning new things.

Dulce is also a dog lover and an avid world traveler, especially looking forward to practicing anywhere her travels take her. Traveling has given her the opportunities to take classes with different yoga teachers such as David Swenson, Brian Miller, Amynthas Franco and Ana Hollis in places such as San Antonio Texas, Santa Fe, New Mexico, San Diego California, France and Switzerland.

Dulce brings to her teaching over a decade of personal practice and study that has blossomed into a passion for teaching and sharing. For Dulce, her practice is places to not only get a good workout for her body, but also a wonderful space in which to cultivate connection, reflection and honesty in the daily lives of herself and her students.

Dulce provides students with asanas that fit the practice of every student, balancing and encouraging them to focus on their own practice and the breath.

Her classes combine a strong emphasis on Pranayama (breath), Asana (posture), Agni (harnessing inner fire), Meditation, and the sound vibration of music.

EDITH decided to try out a yoga studio in 2014 after taking a few classes at gyms while in high school.  At the studio she was exposed to a side of yoga she hadn't known. She kept attending classes every so often and finally, as her 2015 New Years resolution, she vowed to keep a consistent practice and quickly fell in love with it. She was amazed at how her body, mind and soul were transforming and coming into unison, creating a person who was finally at peace with herself and the obstacles thrown her way. In September 2016, she completed her 200 hr YTT at Surya Yoga, with the guidance of her teacher Morgan Mazza.

Edith is passionate about teaching fun, challenging, flow (but strictly aligned) classes, while incorporating the spiritual and deeper aspect of yoga into them as well. She hopes her students will take the self awareness gained on the mat, with them once they step off of it, and carry it with them throughout their day.

In addition to being a devoted yogi, Edith is full time Business student at UTEP, who loves to travel and explore new places and cultures whenever she has the opportunity to. With the chaos of handling school, a part time job, and everyday life, Edith finds balance and presence through her yoga practice.

MIRANDA began attending yoga classes at Surya Yoga in El Paso in May of 2015. She found the beginning of her yoga experience to be much different than what she expected, and fell in love with the sense of personal challenge and development her practice led her to, both on and off the mat. She began to make several shifts in her lifestyle to better grow into a healthier and happier self with a great deal of support from the community there at the studio. After a year of advancement, she decided to complete her 200 hour yoga teacher training at Surya Yoga, led by Morgan Mazza, during the spring/summer session of 2016.

Miranda believes in helping her students develop strong foundations in their bodies in order to achieve optimal alignment. Her classes offer a variety of prop, breath, and meditational techniques to achieve precision in whatever her students may be working towards in their own personal practices.

Miranda moved from her hometown of San Antonio, Texas to El Paso, Texas in December of 2014. She is currently working on her associate’s degree in veterinary technology at Penn Foster College, and works full time as a zoo keeper at the El Paso Zoo. She has found that her involvement in animal care and in the yoga community both require such similar love, and is grateful and intrigued that she can provide such passion and care in both very different occupations.

CASANDRA and the yogic lifestyle go naturally together. Her yoga practice began in 2001 and has evolved throughout the years. With a passion for learning the various styles of the art form, she completed her teacher training at Radiantly Alive in Bali Indonesia, studying under the tutelage of Daniel Aaron. She also holds a certification in Kids Yoga Teacher Training from Jodi Komitor of Next Generation Yoga and a Yin Yoga Teacher Training with Sebastian Pucelle & Murielle Burellier. Her classes are Vinyasa Flow based, often infused with a smidge from other styles and techniques that include Ashtanga, Jivamukti, Iyengar, Bhakti, Tripsichore, Anusara and Restorative. Also, Pranayama, Meditation, Ayurveda and Chanting are a part of her life.

Although always focused on alignment of the Asana practice, her greatest love of Yoga comes from experiencing the internal aspect of it, the spiritual and transformational effect it has on oneself. Expect to sweat, laugh, learn and start to see things differently as you walk out from one of her classes. Feel the Yoga high!

Additionally, she continues to travel extensively in order to expand her knowledge by training with other world class teachers including Edward Clark, Damien De Bastier, Alanna Kaivalya, Deborah Williamson and Tias & Surya Little.

She holds a B.A. of Communication Advertising, a Master in Brand Management from Polimoda in Florence Italy and speaks four fluent languages.

NICOLE was born and raised in El Paso and took her first yoga class at a local studio several years ago. After practicing and working at Surya Yoga for some time, she decided to complete her 200hr YTT with Morgan Mazza.
 
Nicole has also studied various science subjects with a particular interest in environmental health and nutrition. She hopes to share her knowledge of yoga, healthful cooking, and passion for nature with her community.
 
Nicole cares about her students well-being and hopes to guide them in class as they become more aware of themselves along the path. She practices yoga off the mat, whether she's hiking, horseback riding, or gardening...asana, pranayama, and meditation are valuable tools in her life.
